From the framing to the last step
New boards are only part of a deck project. What is underneath, how the deck meets the house and how you get to the yard shape the rest of the work.
Deck rebuilds & framing
On an existing deck, we check what can stay and what needs rebuilding before you choose finishes. We do the framing ourselves. Tell us about soft boards, wobbly posts or a deck pulling away from the house.
Decking, stairs & railings
Plan the surface with the stair location, railing style and path to the yard. Our clients' deck rebuilds have used composite decking and metal railings. Your material choices go in the written estimate.
Pergolas & layout
A pergola, room for a table and the way the patio door opens all change how a deck feels. Plan them together, especially when the deck follows a kitchen remodel.
A deck after a Superior kitchen remodel
For the home shown here, we first opened the kitchen to the living room by removing a load-bearing wall. About six months later, we came back to build the back deck, with black metal railings, steps down to the yard and a wood pergola.
The kitchen and the deck are one project, so the project's main photo shows the kitchen. See the Superior kitchen and deck project for every photo, deck and pergola included. It shows one way to improve a house in stages: the inside first, the outside later.
Clients describe their deck rebuilds in the reviews below, from new framing and posts to composite decking, metal railings and stair lighting.

Repair, resurface or replace?
A few worn boards and a deck with failing framing are different projects. We look at the existing structure at the property and talk through repair or replacement there. Photos help start the conversation, but they cannot show whether hidden framing can stay.
When you compare estimates, check what each one includes: demolition and hauling, framing, decking, stairs, railings and any pergola or lighting. Ask about material choices and what happens if hidden damage turns up. Our guide to planning a remodel and comparing estimates covers this in more detail.
What shapes your deck estimate
Size, height, access, the condition of the old deck, materials and the number of stairs all affect the price. So do extras like a pergola or changes where the deck meets the house. You get the work as line items, and any change gets a written change order first.
Permits and inspections depend on the property and the work. We handle permits and coordinate inspections where required, and we walk you through the order of work before we start. Send your address through our deck estimate form or check our service area.
What clients say
Our old wood deck was spongy and unsafe. Alex walked us through options and explained what was actually wrong with the framing. RSRT tore everything down, rebuilt the structure properly, and installed a composite surface with metal railings. The new deck feels solid and there are no wobbly posts or loose boards. They also cleaned up the yard better than any contractor we’ve used before.
RSRT rebuilt our back deck and stairs which were starting to pull away from the house. They reframed it correctly into the structure, replaced all the posts, and added lighting on the stairs. Everything feels rock solid now. Schedule and pricing matched the estimate and any small changes were talked through before they did them.
